Icy roads linger as dangerously cold Arctic air moves into Charlotte region: Forecast here

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – Icy roads lingered Monday morning in the Charlotte region as dangerously cold Arctic air moved into the area following a weekend winter storm.

As freezing rain and sleet have ended, another round of arctic air is settling across the Carolinas, bringing dangerously cold temperatures and wind chills that could reach life-threatening levels, especially in the mountains.

Icy conditions linger

Sleet and freezing rain from the weekend are still creating hazardous driving conditions on untreated roads, sidewalks, parking lots, and side streets this morning.

While main roads are seeing some improvement as temperatures climb into the upper 30s, refreezing is likely overnight. With our next cold snap dropping temperatures into the single digits and teens.
