Mounting snow days prompt one school district to think twice about calling off

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The ongoing winter weather has at least one local superintendent pausing before calling additional snow days, mindful of students potentially missing too much instructional time.

Bay Village City School District Superintendent Scot T. Prebles said in a message to families Friday afternoon that “continued closures at the current pace could lead us to implement online instruction or extend the school year to ensure educational continuity, as required by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.”

Prebles said he will call snow days for conditions “that create unsafe travel conditions, such as hazardous roads or sidewalks.”…
