Salvation Army Clarifies Nobody Is Being Turned Away From Fayetteville Shelter

The Salvation Army of the Sandhills Region has issued clarification on turning people away from its shelter over the weekend.

Social media reports that some individuals without ID weren’t allowed into the shelter appear to have been misconstrued, according to the Salvation Army.

“We’ve heard concerns that The Salvation Army’s shelter is turning people away who don’t have an ID. We want to be absolutely clear: This is not true,” the organization said in a social media post. “No one is turned away for lack of identification. We have systems in place to ensure everyone who needs shelter can access it. Our goal is to serve our community, not create barriers.”…
