Photos: Crash on US 421 South near Forsyth-Guilford county line causes delays amid icy road conditions

GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — A crash on US 421 South caused major delays during the morning commute on Tuesday, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

The crash occurred at Mile Marker 220, just ahead of Exit 221 for Macy Grove Road and just crossing over the Guilford County line from Forsyth County.

The right lane of the road was closed as a result of the crash. Traffic camera footage shows substantial traffic backup as well as snow and sleet still lining the sides of the highway.

The city of Winston-Salem and NCDOT are urging drivers to stay off the road unless absolutely necessary due to road conditions, which worsened due to overnight freezing temperatures…
