Ellie Bunting and the Estero Island Historical Society team is hosting their next Murder Mystery presentation Saturday at 11AM. Admission is free, however, donations to the organization, located at 161 Bay Road on Fort Myers Beach, are always welcome.
The latest in the EIHS series is called A Fort Myers Beach Murder Mystery: Sail of Fate. Bill and Patti Kamerer were well known and well liked adventurers who settled on Fort Myers Beach with a dream of sailing around the Bahamas. In April 1980, they took off in their 41-foot sloop, Kalia III, to realize their dream. Bill and Patti reached the Exumas chain in the Bahamas, and were never again seen alive. Their blood-spattered boat, riddled with bullet holes, was found adrift off Pipe Cay. A man’s body, covered with sailcloth, was seen in the dinghy, but it disappeared before Bahamian authorities arrived to investigate. What happened to the Kamerers, and their bodies, during their fateful voyage?…
