Temporary housing solution aims to address homelessness in east Orange County

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — As homeless advocates throughout Central Florida prepare to conduct their annual point-in-time count, one organization is working to implement a new temporary housing solution for individuals in the eastern part of Orange County.

The SALT Outreach organization is the brains behind the “shelter trailer” operation, which organizers hope to launch this fall.

It’s a proposal that county officials say is still in the permitting process. But if approved, it could provide up to 20 beds for individuals who are newly experiencing homelessness in Orange County…
