When you think of North College Avenue’s vacant Albertsons store, you might not picture vibrant murals, smell sizzling food truck dishes or hear live music. The Fort Collins Urban Renewal Authority is looking to change that.
The URA applied for a minor amendment to establish a temporary event venue in the former store’s parking lot Jan. 14.
If all goes as planned, it’s hoping to unveil the improved lot as a temporary space for community events this spring, with painted mural panels proposed on the front of the Albertsons building and an artificial turf-lined gathering area, space for food trucks and vendor tents, planters, string lights, seating and a stage for performances in the parking lot, according to the application and the URA’s acting executive director, Josh Birks…
