Former DC councilman Jack Evans announces bid for Mendelson’s seat

WASHINGTON (7News) — Former councilmember Jack Evans confirmed to 7News Tuesday that he will run for chairman of the D.C. council.

“I am excited to run for chair of the council of the District of Columbia. I think new leadership is important. I want to focus on education, housing, public safety, education, affordable housing and what I’m known most about is finance,” Evans said.

Evans resigned on Jan. 17, 2020, over an ethics violations after the FBI raided his home. He was accused of using his public office to benefit private clients and employers who allegedly paid him hundreds and thousands of dollars…
