Former Manatee County deputy convicted of beating dog to the point of breaking its ribs

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A former Manatee County Sheriff’s Office deputy was convicted of aggravated animal cruelty charges in a Hillsborough County court on Tuesday.

State prosecutors said the deputy, Daniel Kujawa, beat his own dog to the point that it had broken ribs and damage to the heart and lungs.

“Members of the jury you only have to believe your eyes and your ears and the evidence,” said Karri Becker, the prosecution.
