Study reveals where car thefts occur most often in Indiana

A new five-year analysis has found more than half of car thefts in Indiana in the past five years happened away from home.

Of the 60,376 car thefts reported in the state, 53% occurred when vehicles were parked away from home, while 47% took place at the owner’s residence, according to a community announcement.

The study, conducted by Compare the Market, examined car theft data nationwide and found that 39% of car thefts in the U.S. occur at home, compared to 61% away from home. The analysis then focused on Indiana to see how these trends differ locally…
