FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – By the show of hands, who else had three-foot snowdrifts in their driveway this afternoon? By the grace of my AWD was I able to press the pedal to the floor and blast my way through! I don’t recommend it, though – I think I just got lucky.
In all seriousness, drifting has been a major headache for many today as strong westerly wind gusts between 30-45 mph picked up the light, fluffy snow and threw it into piles. The wind will decrease through the evening, though occasional wind gusts could still manage to make it to 20 mph or so overnight and perhaps as high as 25 mph into Wednesday afternoon. Still, I believe the absolute worst of these conditions is coming to an end this evening.
Though the wind will be lighter tonight into Wednesday, our First Alert Weather Day continues as wind chill values plunge back to the -15 and -25º range. By midday, wind chill values should ease up along with the wind itself…
