Adult, pet escape Nicholasville house fire as crews work through frigid night

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (FOX 56) — Multiple agencies, including the Nicholasville Fire Department (NFD) and the Jessamine County Fire District (JCFD), worked together through sub-freezing cold, fire, and a damaged fire hydrant to fight a Monday night house fire.

In a Facebook post, the Nicholasville Fire Department said crews were dispatched the evening of Jan. 26 to reports of a house fire on West Brown Street.

Fire officials said one adult and a pet were able to escape the burning home and were evaluated by emergency personnel outside.

Authorities said firefighters were able to quickly contain the flames, which had engulfed much of the home’s second floor.

“Utility crews worked to repair an fire hydrant that was damaged and would not shut off which required temporary shut down of the water main and will require additional repairs,” NFD said. “Operations continued in to the morning hours and required the support from Jessamine County Fire District, Jessamine County EMS, Nicholasville Police, Nicholasville Utilities and Jessamine county Emergency Management.”
