Several children and adults were evaluated at a hospital after a laptop’s battery overheated and began emitting smoke inside a Newark school on Tuesday afternoon, according to city officials.
Firefighters responded to Greater Oaks Legacy Downtown Elementary School around 2:20 p.m. after a laptop’s ion battery failed, filling a basement classroom with smoke, Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda said.
