NYRA cancels three days of racing this week at Aqueduct

The continuing cold snap in the New York metropolitan area has led the New York Racing Association to call off three days of racing this week at Aqueduct Racetrack in Queens.

NYRA announced Monday that because of “arctic temperatures and extremely low wind chill values forecast to impact the New York metropolitan area,” it was canceling live racing this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at Aqueduct.

In a news release, NYRA said that it, in consultation with the Jockeys’ Guild, New York Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association and New York Thoroughbred Breeders’, Inc., will request formal approval from the New York State Gaming Commission to hold live racing on Wednesday, Feb. 4.
