Person Dies in Hospital After Being Found Severely Injured on Vista Sidewalk as Authorities Investigate Cause

VISTA, CALIFORNIA — Authorities in San Diego County are investigating after a person was found with severe injuries on a sidewalk in Vista late Sunday night and later died at a hospital, officials confirmed.

Deputies and fire personnel responded to the scene shortly after 11:30 p.m., following reports of a person lying on a sidewalk and not moving near a commercial area.

Victim Found Near Restaurant on Sycamore Avenue

Officials said the injured person was discovered near a Panda Express restaurant in the 300 block of Sycamore Avenue. First responders determined the individual had suffered apparent traumatic injuries to the body.

Emergency crews transported the victim to Palomar Medical Center, where they succumbed to their injuries early Monday morning, authorities said.

Possible Assault Under Investigation

Investigators stated that the injuries were consistent with possible assault-related trauma, though officials emphasized that the exact cause of death has not yet been determined
