One of Sonoma County’s most remarkable redwood forests could soon get significantly bigger.
Save the Redwoods League announced it has reached an agreement with the Richardson family to acquire 200 additional acres next to the Harold Richardson Redwoods Reserve, including a nearly 35-acre old-growth coast redwood grove packed with towering giants.
The organization is now working to raise $4 million to permanently protect two parcels of land. If successful, the expansion would grow the reserve to roughly 930 acres, increasing its footprint by more than 20 percent and creating a larger buffer around hundreds of ancient redwoods at a time when climate resilience is increasingly critical…
