Amazon announced Tuesday that it would be closing all of its Amazon Go and Amazon Fresh stores amid a shift to more online same-day delivery and expansion of its Whole Foods division.
The e-commerce juggernaut said it would close 57 Fresh stores and 15 Amazon Go locations nationwide. The company operates 10 stores in Illinois including Fresh locations in Oak Lawn and Tinley Park.
The company said some of its Amazon Fresh stores would be converted into Whole Foods stores and more than 100 new Whole Foods stores are planned. It did not indicate whether the two local stores would be converted…
