Home invader gets black eye from residents, 20-year sentence from judge

A Chicago man accused of breaking into a Naperville home where his ex-girlfriend was visiting, only to be confronted and detained by several men who held him until police arrived, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison, DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin announced Tuesday.

At about 4 a.m. on August 6, 2022, Adam Stone, 28, went to a Naperville home where his ex-girlfriend was visiting and broke a basement window to gain entry, Berln said. Once inside, he fought with the occupants before they forced him outside.

About 15 minutes after being removed from the home, Stone threw a landscape brick through the front window and threw additional bricks at vehicles parked in the driveway, according to Berlin. Naperville police responded to the scene and found “several men” holding Stone down outside the residence…
