AUSTIN (KXAN) — Icy roads in the Austin area stuck around through Tuesday morning, creating dangerous conditions and causing cars to slide and spin.
KXAN viewer Tucker Wise sent in video of cars spinning and sliding downhill in West Lake Hills near Highway 360 on Monday.
Some roads were closed on Tuesday morning. KXAN crews saw parts of U.S. Highway 183 and the 183A Toll in northwest Austin blocked off, and cars were being diverted off the highway and to the exits.
Good news is on the way, though. As of 11 a.m. the temperature recorded at Camp Mabry in Austin was above freezing at 37°, and ice should be melting through the afternoon.
