Feds deploy pepper balls, tear gas on crowd of protesters in Eugene

8:27 p.m. Update: Over a loudspeaker, federal agents announced that all detainees have been released and ordered the remaining protesters to disperse, or else they will use chemical deterrents and make arrests.

Most protesters had left the area, but about a couple dozen were still in the courtyard near the Eugene Federal Building’s front entrance.

7:25 p.m. Update: The clash between protesters and at least 30 federal agents continued after dark as chemical irritants including pepper balls and tear gas were deployed in front of the Eugene Federal Building…
