CCSD looking for volunteers to help chronically absent students

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The Clark County School District is looking for volunteers to help reconnect chronically absent students with schools through a national initiative.

The district is looking for volunteers to help with home visits with CCSD staff during two upcoming “Bright Future” walks.

The “Bright Futures” initiative is CCSD’s districtwide outreach effort in order to ensure that every student is enrolled, present, and engaged in school. The community walks help focus on removing barriers so students can “reconnect with school and feel a stronger sense of belonging,” according to a release.

“We are calling on the community to help us reach these students who may be facing barriers that prevent them from coming to school,” CCSD Superintendent Jhone Ebert said. “Together, we can provide the support they need so they can continue on a path to a bright future.”…
