Man sentenced to life, another sentenced to 40-65 years for 2024 Kalamazoo murder

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Two men were sentenced Tuesday in connection to the 2024 murder of Charles Lee Weir in Kalamazoo.

Deyonte James Armstrong and Don’quay Jyshonne White were found guilty of the homicide during a dual-jury trial on Dec. 11 and 10, 2025, respectively.

Don’quay White was sentenced to a mandatory life in prison without the possibility of parole, according to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS).

Deyonte Armstrong is ineligible for the mandatory life without parole sentence due to his age. Instead, he was sentenced to 40 to 65 years for the conviction, plus two years for felony firearm, for a minimum sentence of 42 years.
