Castle Harbor Restaurant in Delran Reopens; New Owners, Same Local Charm

Castle Harbor Restaurant in Delran/Riverside has officially reopened after being closed for more than a year. The beloved local café and ice cream spot is back under new ownership, bringing with it many returning staff members and the same great food and frozen treats the community loves.

Located on River Road in Delran, Castle Harbor has operated as a frozen custard stand and café since the early 1950s. The business was first founded by “Captain Lou” and has long been a local staple, typically operating 10 months out of the year.

Last year, following what was expected to be a short two-month seasonal break, the previous owner Jim Dapontes announced that Castle Harbor would not reopen in 2025 and that the popular café and ice cream shop was being put up for sale.
