Jan. 27 – Mecklenburg County is now accepting plastic bags and wrap-style plastics at the North Mecklenburg Disposal and Recycling Center.
If a plastic item stretches when pulled, it can likely be recycled. Accepted materials include many plastics labeled with recycling codes 2 or 4, as long as items are clean and dry. Plastic bags should not be placed in curbside recycling carts.
Commonly accepted items include grocery and bread bags, produce and ice bags, resealable bags, dry-cleaning bags, bubble wrap, air pillows, plastic shipping envelopes and product wrap. Shiny, crinkly films or materials that tear like paper are not accepted…
