Get ready for a blast from the past, folks, because McDonald’s is bringing back a fan favorite that’s sure to make you feel like a kid again! The iconic Changeables Happy Meal toys, those awesome Transformers-style figures that debuted way back in the late ’80s and early ’90s, are officially making their grand return to restaurants across the U.S. starting this Tuesday.
For those of you who might need a refresher (or were perhaps too young to remember the first go-around), these aren’t just any old toys. Changeables start as familiar McDonald’s menu items – think McNugget boxes, soda machines, Happy Meal cartons, and even those golden fries – and then, with a few flips and folds, they transform into robots, dinosaurs, and other imaginative characters. It’s like magic, but with more plastic!
This comeback includes 16 brand-new collectible characters, each with its own unique name and personality, all inspired by the original 1987, 1989, and 1990 releases. Even McDonald’s senior marketing director, Guillaume Huin, confessed his affection for “Teef Rex” – the Happy Meal box that transforms into a dinosaur. We get it, Guillaume, we’ve got our favorites too!
But wait, there’s more! McDonald’s isn’t stopping at just toys. They’re also rolling out a brand-new hot honey sauce this Tuesday, perfect for dipping your McNuggets or adding a sweet and spicy kick to your breakfast items.
And for those of you who’ve been following the rumor mill, the long-anticipated Big Arch burger, which has already been a hit in Canada and Portugal, is expected to land in the U.S. in early March. This isn’t just any burger; it boasts two quarter-pound beef patties, white cheddar cheese, crispy and slivered onions, a poppy-and-sesame seed bun, and a brand-new Arch sauce. Sounds like a mouthful of deliciousness!
And as if that wasn’t enough to get excited about, the beloved Shamrock Shake, that festive mint-flavored green milkshake, is also set to make its annual return just in time for St. Patrick’s Day on March 17.
So, whether you’re craving nostalgia, new flavors, or just a little bit of green goodness, McDonald’s has you covered this spring!
