The mother of a Baton Rouge toddler who was killed violently is set to have her day in court soon after more than four years of waiting.
Lanaya Brittany Cardwell, 28, has maintained her innocence in the death of her 2-year-old daughter, Nevaeh Liyla Allen, since she was arrested in September 2021. On Monday, her trial is set to begin inside the 19th Judicial District Courthouse in downtown Baton Rouge.
