[1] Lawsuit filed after Albuquerque police kill man during welfare check – APD is facing a wrongful death lawsuit after officers shot and killed a man during a welfare check. Last February, police were called regarding 67-year-old David McElvain sending suicidal messages. Albuquerque Community Safety went to check on him, but when they got no response, APD was called out. The investigation states that one of the officers opened the unlocked door, but McElvain’s attorneys say they did not have a warrant to enter the home. When police opened the door, McElvain had a gun in his hand, and that’s when an officer shot and killed him.

[2] Suspect in Isleta Pueblo murder facing federal charges – An 18-year-old is facing federal charges, accused of killing a member of the Isleta Pueblo. Earlier this month, Isleta police responded to a home near Bosque Farms, where they found the victim who had been shot. The victim died on scene. According to witnesses, Bonifacio Silva fired his gun during a confrontation that stemmed from an earlier altercation. Silva is charged with second-degree murder.

[3] Milder temperatures with cloudy and dry weather – Warmer weather will continue moving into New Mexico Wednesday as a ridge of high pressure moves overhead. By Thursday though, northwest upper level winds will strengthen, bringing slightly breezy afternoon winds and a very slight drop in high temperatures.
