Portland’s long winter dry spell comes to an end Tuesday evening

The first in a series of rain-making systems will push across the Portland/Vancouver area by Tuesday afternoon and into Wednesday morning putting an end to what has been a long winter dry spell of about two weeks.

The National Weather Service is watching an upper level trough lifting over the northeast Pacific Ocean that will bring fronts marching over the metro area by late afternoon and into Wednesday.

Portland will see increasing southerly winds and light rain likely by the evening commute Tuesday. Rainfall totals should be light with only about a tenth of an inch expected in the next 24 hours. Portland will have mostly cloudy skies all day and a high of about 49 degrees…
