DIAMOND HEAD, Hawaii (KHON2) — Vandalism continues to plague public restrooms near Diamond Head, forcing repeated closures and leaving residents without reliable access.
‘Personal offense’: Maui Humane Society suffers another break-in
A public restroom that should serve hikers and area residents remains more closed than open. The City said the facility near Diamond Head has been shut down for repairs three times in the last 18 months due to vandalism.
An area resident said the bathrooms are constantly unavailable.
“Our facilities are constantly unsanitary. They’re constantly vandalized,” said Ikaika, a Kapahulu resident. “There’s not enough authority coming through that prevents people from taking the time to vandalize it.”…
