Marietta SPLOST list proposes new park, widening Whitlock and Cherokee

MARIETTA — Projects on the city’s proposed 1% sales tax list include widening part of Whitlock Avenue, two fire station remodels and a new park.

The Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) is projected to collect $1.15 billion countywide, with Marietta receiving approximately $78.23 million over six years. Voters will decide whether to impose the tax this November.

Highlights of the city’s draft project list include widening Whitlock Avenue from Marietta High School to John Ward Road, building a new park in Ward 7, remodeling fire stations 55 and 52, widening Cherokee Street from Chicopee Drive to Tower Road and replacing the turf at the Franklin Gateway Sports Complex…
