BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — A 68-year-old man who was killed in a pedestrian crash on Oswell Street last week was identified as Salvador Lemus Meza, of Bakersfield. A dog also died in the crash.
The Kern County coroner said that at around 5:45 p.m. on January 20, Meza was struck by a vehicle on Oswell Street, north of Pioneer Drive, and died upon impact.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) said that officers were called to the scene at approximately 5:46 p.m. following a crash involving a pedestrian and a vehicle. The investigation revealed that a 25-year-old man was driving a 2009 Nissan Rogue southbound on Oswell Street at about 45 miles per hour when Meza entered the road outside of a crosswalk, directly in the vehicle’s path.
The crash resulted in severe injuries to Meza, and emergency medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene. The CHP’s website noted that animal control was summoned for the deceased dog…
