Former Town Hall eyed for new downtown Huntersville restaurant

HUNTERSVILLE – Could the former Town Hall become the next trendy eatery in Lake Norman?

It’s a possibility the Huntersville Town Board is considering. An unnamed developer has brought an offer to the table to purchase the municipal building at the northeast corner of the Gilead/Mt. Holly-Huntersville and Old Statesville roads intersection for $1.44 million. The proposal states 75 percent of the building would be a food or beverage component.

Town Attorney Emily Sloop told the board at its Jan. 20 meeting that the developer has not solidified details about the food/beverage component yet, which is why more details on the nature of the business are not available. The property would be under deed restrictions for seven years, limiting it to retail, restaurant or other non-residential use…
