HAMILTON COUNTY, Ohio (WKRC) – The Hamilton County Mathematics and Science Academy is facing scrutiny following a report from the Ohio State Auditor’s Office that found misuse of public funds and documentation issues.
The audit found that school administrators used tax dollars to pay late fees, bank overdraft fees and sales taxes with a school debit card between 2019 and 2020. The total amount involved was about $5,000. The report said the school’s treasurer failed to seek reimbursement from the state for the sales taxes paid.
The auditor’s office also found the school paid more than $250,000 to employees through supplemental contracts and additional compensation outside their established salaries. Auditors said they were unable to obtain documentation to support those payments…
