Fort Bragg soldier charged with murder in Fayetteville gun battle

A Fort Bragg soldier charged with murder in a Jan. 19 gunfight allegedly confronted the victim about a weapon before the shooting began, according to the charging document.

Spc. Demell Windsor Lawrence, 24, a motor transport operator assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Tykese Aerian McFayden, 23, of Fayetteville.
