Big changes are coming to the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center and other municipal buildings after a group of women with disabilities settled a federal lawsuit seeking enhanced mobility access in several government buildings.
Plaintiffs Jill Babcock, Ashley Jacobson and Marguerite Maddox filed the lawsuit three years ago, claiming violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act against the state of Michigan, Wayne County, city of Detroit and the Detroit-Wayne Joint Building Authority, which manages the Young municipal center.
