COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — New claims of fraud in Ohio’s publicly funded daycares have prompted legislative action at the statehouse.
Concerns initially arose following investigations into Somali-owned daycares in Minnesota, drawing attention to Columbus, which hosts the second-largest Somali population in the U.S. Since January first of this year, the Ohio Department of Children and Youth received 90 tips regarding fraudulent or suspicious activity inside daycares within the state. In 2025, DCY received a total of 124 tips.
