Grand Rapids woman found guilty of murder in 2023 Kalamazoo crash that killed one

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A Grand Rapids woman was found guilty this week for her role in a 2023 fatal car crash in Kalamazoo that killed one person and severely injured another.

24-year-old Nyra Antinique Whitelow was convicted by a jury of second degree murder and reckless driving causing serious impairment, according to a release from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS).

The crash occurred on Nov. 24, 2023 on Stadium Drive in Kalamazoo. Whitelow was traveling over twice the posted speed limit when her vehicle struck a car occupied by 22-year-old Audrey Hensley and her boyfriend.

Hensley was killed in the crash, while her boyfriend sustained critical injuries, KDPS said.

“This verdict cannot bring back a life that was tragically lost, but it does acknowledge the profound harm caused by reckless speeding,” said Capt. Danielle Guilds of the Criminal Investigations Division. “Our thoughts remain with the victim’s loved ones as they continue to grieve.”…
