Triad back roads still covered in ice after storm | Live updates

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The weekend winter storm has made its way through the Triad – leaving lasting snow and ice in its wake. Cities have begun the work of plowing out main roads for essential travel, but North Carolinians are still being advised to stay off the roads unless necessary.

On Sunday, the NCDOT reported nearly 400 crashes during the storm.

Guilford County

Guilford County EMS said they have responded to weather related calls overnight, but it is unclear how many. Two of the most recent crashes, as of 8:12 a.m. were on Young Mills Road and Maddux Road.

The City of Greensboro says its crews have cleared 96% of its priority roads through plowing, salting and grading. Though Monday and Tuesday’s sunny conditions helped melt some of the ice on roads. Drivers are asked to use caution until all roads have been fully cleared…
