I-55 backlog in MS leaves drivers stranded for hours

DESOTO COUNTY, Miss. — Drivers traveling on Interstate 55 in Mississippi have been stuck for hours since traffic came to a standstill Tuesday night.

More than 100 snow plows are on their way to Mississippi interstates along with the National Guard to help many drivers who have been stranded for hours on end in the cold, stuck on ice-covered roads.

There have been major traffic delays on Interstate 55 from Senatobia to Grenada after this past weekend’s ice storm.

MS drivers describe conditions on I-55: ‘Bad, bad, bad’

Northbound traffic on I-55 will be closed from Grenada, and traffic on I-22 westbound in Marshall County will be closed, to allow workers to clear roads.

People with CB radios began listening in and told WREG they were desperate to start moving again…
