Deadly south suburban crash leaves 1 killed, with roads closed for hours amid slick conditions

Roads in suburban Will County were closed for hours Tuesday afternoon after a fatal crash between a car and a tractor trailer left one person dead, with investigators still on scene and officials warning of dangerous driving conditions from drifting snow.

The two-vehicle crash occurred about 5:54 a.m. near 104th Avenue and Wilmington-Peotone Road, the Will County Sheriff’s Office said. Just before 1 p.m., the office announced the roadway between Center Road to Route 45 had been reopened.
