(Council Bluffs) — Dr. Vickie Murillo has announced plans to step down as Council Bluffs Community School District superintendent at the end of the current school year to pursue a new career opportunity.
Murillo announced in a statement sent to KMA News on Wednesday that she will resign from her position, effective June 30th, 2026. The decision comes after Murillo was selected as the next superintendent of the Independence School District in Missouri.
In her statement, Murillo says her decision “is guided by both professional opportunity and personal calling.” Adding that she has been offered to return to the community where she grew up and “serve a community that shaped” who she is, while also being closer to family and grandchildren…
