RISD to keep schools closed through Thursday

Richardson ISD students may only make it to school one day this week.

Shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday, the district announced on social media it would close schools the following day after concluding that “additional thawing is still needed on neighborhood streets and on our campuses to ensure safe travel for students and staff.” RISD also cited remaining ice accumulation on campuses and travel concerns for staff living outside its boundaries as factors leading to the decision for Thursday closures.

The National Weather Service’s Fort Worth-Dallas office is predicting temperatures in the low 20s on Wednesday night and potential freezing fog in Dallas County later in the evening…
