Dallas indoor playground packed as winter storm closures leave parents scrambling

DALLAS — With schools closed for a third straight day due to winter weather, parents across North Texas searched for safe ways to keep their children busy. For some, that meant crowding into an indoor playground in Dallas that looked more like a weekend rush than a typical weekday morning.

Down to Play, an indoor play space for children, was packed by midmorning Wednesday as families sought relief from being stuck at home. The parking lot filled quickly, and the business was already nearing a waitlist.

“Wednesday morning during the school year? No, we are normally not crowded at all right now,” Kelsey Doolen said. She’s the co-owner of Down to Play. “We are about to be in a wait right now, so it’s a very, very different Wednesday morning.”…
