BBB gets almost 700 inquiries about apparently fake Missouri debt collector

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Hundreds of people have been contacted by an apparently fake law firm claiming to be collecting a debt.

The Better Business Bureau of the Midwest Plains issued a warning Wednesday about Anderson Tate & Associates LLC. The organization said it the company has been the subject of 698 consumer inquiries and more than 30 BBB Scam Tracker reports.

The company claims to be based in Harrisonville, Missouri, about 35 miles southeast of Kansas City.

The BBB said that while Anderson Tate is registered with the State of Missouri as an LLC, it’s address is a registered agent service, not a law firm. The only attorney listed on the company’s website is John Gunner Haugenes, who claims to be the senior partner, CEO and founder of the law firm, which bears the names of people who aren’t listed on the website…
