School District Responds To TikTok Video Involving Student & Teac

The Becker Superintendent put out a letter to the community in response to a now viral video that was shot inside the high school that involves a student and a teacher. The student and teacher were arguing after Renee Good was shot and killed by DHS & ICE agents in Minneapolis, with the teacher in the clip referencing that just “because you are alive doesn’t mean you are intelligent”.

Response To Viral Video From Becker’s Superintendent

Dr. Jeremy Schmidt, Superintendent, posted the letter to Becker’s staff, students, family, and community in response to the video.

The letter states that the district won’t be “driven by rumor, viral clips, or crowd pressure.” The letter continues stating that the district will be “driven by facts, due process”, and the district’s obligation to “keep students safe and learning.”

Also outlined in the letter is what the Becker School District is doing about the matter, which includes “conducting a formal review” using protocols and processes that are in place in the district, as well as using “applicable law”…
