Colorado AG, Sierra Club challenge order to keep Craig coal plant open

The Colorado Attorney General’s Office, Sierra Club and other groups are challenging the Department of Energy’s recent emergency order to keep the Craig 1 coal plant operating past its long-planned shutdown date.

The outcome could have impacts in Fort Collins because the plant is partially owned by Platte River Power Authority, which is city-owned and could bear costs associated with keeping it open.
