Berkeley County woman accused of stealing scratch-off lottery tickets

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division has charged a woman with lottery fraud in two counties.

Denise Antionette Maxwell, 35, is charged with two counts: intent to defraud and counterfeiting game tickets.

She allegedly passed five scratch-off tickets on the 3500 block of Dorchester Road on July 24, 2025. She was caught on video stealing the tickets from Rivers Mart on the 4600 block of Rivers Avenue. The affidavit states she redeemed the stolen tickets for cash prizes totaling $100.

The same day, Maxwell allegedly passed four scratch-off tickets at Gas-N-Go on the 5900 block of Rivers Avenue. She was caught on video stealing the tickets from Circle K on the 2400 block of West Aviation Avenue. The affidavit states she was unable to redeem the stolen tickets for cash prizes…
