BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — On Hawley Street in Buffalo, residents say a massive water main break flooded the street, quickly turning it into what looked like a river in a matter of minutes. Two days later, this neighborhood is still stuck, frozen solid under thick sheets of ice — and is calling on the city for help.
“It drained later on that night, but the damage was already done. I couldn’t believe it,” said Andre Dessaw, explaining that the water was up to his car’s headlights.
“My friend drives an SUV and the water got into the engine,” said Blake, another resident on Hawley. “It was at least three feet of water. My one friend had to go and crawl out in it and try to move their car.”…
