Founder of DeKalb County rescue faces 12 counts of animal cruelty

WATERLOO, Ind. (WANE) – The founder of a rescue in DeKalb County now faces misdemeanor charges in connection with the treatment of dogs in her care.

Cara Seiler, founder and director of Canine Haven Rescue in Waterloo, has been formally charged with 12 counts of animal cruelty for having custody of the dogs and allegedly “recklessly, knowingly or intentionally” abandoning or neglecting them, according to records filed Wednesday in DeKalb Superior Court.
