‘Much-needed’ talks – Council travels to Tallahassee to discuss water needs

TALLAHASSEE — Three Punta Gorda City Council members thanked state Rep. Vanessa Oliver for seeking $4 million in appropriations for the city’s 2026 budget.

During a jam-packed three-day trip to Tallahassee, Vice Mayor Jeannine Polk, Greg Julian and Melissa Lockhart, along with City Manager Melissa Reichert, visited lawmakers at the Florida Capitol.

With the help of the city lobbyist Rosanna Catalano, board members met with Oliver and several other lawmakers to discuss mostly water, flooding and public safety issues…
